Landing pages can be a great way to drum up business, as well as hone in on the messaging, products and strategies that really resonate with your customers.
But to reap all these benefits? You first need traffic.
Without plenty of traffic, your landing pages are a moot point. They might have the best, most persuasive copy ever, but if no one’s there to read it, does it really matter?
So what can you do to give those landing pages legs? Pay for it.
Landing Page Promotion with Facebook Ads
No matter what platform you’re using to promote your landing pages, customization is the single most important factor in your success.
By this, I mean customizing your ad to the exact landing page you’re driving people to.
As seen in the “Moon Juice” example above, if your landing page is promoting a health-conscious product to “boost energy & feed physical feel”, then your ads should be targeted the same way. This means demographically, content-wise and in your imagery.

When using Facebook ads to promote your landing page, you’ll also need to keep a few other tidbits in mind:
- Make sure the URL on your ads is your direct landing page, not a home page or more general website. Your landing page should have some sort of lead capturing form as well.
- Be specific in your targeting. Facebook lets you really dive down deep in your audience targeting, so get as detailed as you can. Include interests, geographic locations, marital status — anything at all that will help you reach the most qualified audience for your page.
- Put effort into your headline and image. Facebook users are inundated with advertising on every inch of their experience on the platform. Make sure yours stands out from the pack with a headline and image that pique interest and spur emotion.
- Use multiple photos if possible. If you upload multiple photos to your ad, Facebook will use these to create different versions, which you can then use as a sort of A/B test for your campaign. This will help you hone in on what resonates with your audience and what doesn’t.
You can also add in a call to action button if it’s appropriate. This lets you clearly dictate the action you’re asking the user to take and makes it a little more visual.
Landing Page Promotion with Google Ads & Display
Google ads, as well as ads within its display network, are also a great way to drum up traffic for landing pages, though you’ll need to approach it slightly different than you would on Facebook.
With these ads, you’ll need to consider the SEO factor. Audiences will only see your ad if it has a good quality score in relation to the keywords and terms you’re advertising on. This means you should:
- Include the search term in your landing page headline and text. This not only improves your chances of higher placement, but it also reaffirms to the user that you’ve got what they’re looking for.
- Keep your keyword groups light. Having 500 keywords in your ad group might seem like a good way to bring in lots of traffic, but it’s actually a one-way ticket to irrelevance. It’s virtually impossible to ensure a highly tailored, targeted landing page that works with 500 keywords. Consider keeping your keywords to a small, highly relevant handful.
- Make sure your landing page loads quickly. Google considers page loading time an important factor in the customer experience. Reduce image sizes and implement caching to help speed up your page’s time if necessary.

Obviously, paid ads aren’t the only way to bring in landing page traffic. Some other solid options?
